Prolog Group

A Work Together

The Prolog Group was founded in 1985 by the painters Paul Gherasim (1925-2016), Constantin Flondor, Horea Paștina, Christian Paraschiv and Mihai Sârbulescu. In that year they also had their first exhibition together, entitled "Apple Flower", organized in Bucharest. They were later joined by Ion Grigorescu, Matei Lăzărescu and Valentin Scarlatescu.

It is the longest-lasting Romanian fine arts movement. The Prolog Group was not established according to a program or ideology, but it recognized itself as just "a work together", born as solidarity with nature, friendship, faith.

Over the years, numerous creative camps of painters have taken place both in Romania and abroad (Athos, Bethonvilliers), and joint exhibitions have been hosted by galleries and museums in Budapest, Venice, Paris, Limassol. The members of the Prolog group also exhibited in the Galeria Romana: 2015- the exhibitions "Prolog 90x30" and "Colind", 2016- the exhibition "Străvezime; 2016- "Tescani 40"; 2016, Bucharest - 2017, Chisinau - "Thinking of Paul"; 2017- group exhibition "Theatrum Mundi", 2017: 2017-2018, group exhibition "Prologue, December, 2017", 2018- "Prologue/Thoughts", 2021 - "Prologue over the Years".

The artists from the Prolog Group are some of the most important contemporary Romanian painters.
