Indipendent Artists Nicola D'Arco & Alexandru Marinete

Alexandru Marinete (b. 1980, Romania) discovered his passion for sculpture at age 8, learning the craft in his father’s workshop. He later honed his skills at the National Art College "Nicolae Tonitza" and the National University of Arts, Bucharest, becoming a licensed sculptor. Marinete’s works are inspired by memories from continents he visited and exhibited in. Despite sculpture’s limited appreciation in Romania, his passion drives him to create art that pleases both the eye and soul. “Once you understand stone and marble, it’s hard to stay away. It’s the artist's duty to society to offer beauty,” he says, emphasizing sensorial perception in his work. Nicola D’Arco (b. May 14, 1975, Nola, Italy) graduated in 1994 from the Art Institute of Avellino. Since 2000, he has explored mixed collage and oil painting, transitioning in 2003 to décollage, inspired by the New Realism of the ‘60s. Influenced by artists like Mimmo Rotella, D’Arco views tearing posters as a protest and a reflection of his personality. Living in Bucharest, he continues to merge retro and contemporary posters in his art, capturing vibrant energy tied to both memory and the present. Over two decades, he has participated in numerous exhibitions exploring cinematographic and advertising themes.
